Fitness exercises you can do without equipment

I've recently been looking into exercises that you can do in your own home without the need for any exercise equipment, and today I'd like to share some of that with you. These videos were not made by me and I take no credit for their creation, but the information in them is interesting and I think some will benefit from it.

This first video focusses on core exercises, and shows some exercises near the end that require something to hang from. If you don't have access to something like that, you can skip some of the exercises at the end.

The next video contains bodyweight workouts that use your own bodyweight as part of the exercise routine. Personal trainer Stephen Cabral takes us through several exercises that would be great as part of any exercise program.

Finally, Duckyls7 brings us back to basics with some of the classic exercises that can be done at home without any equipment. Only one circuit is shown in the video, but it is recommended that you comeplete the exercises 2-4 more times, depending on your fitness level.

Thank you for your interest, and I'll see you again next time.

Exercise and Fitness Tips...

When considering an exercise or fitness program, it could be a good idea to check with your doctor before starting to make sure it is right for you and that you don't do any damage to your body if you have any special considerations (injuries, heart conditions, diabetes, etc).

  • You've been diagnosed with heart problems, high blood pressure or other medical conditions
  • You've been sedentary for over a year
  • If you're over 65 and don't currently exercise
  • You're pregnant
  • You have diabetes
  • You ever experience chest pains, dizziness or fainting spells
  • You're recovering from an injury or illness
  • You have a diagnosed medical condition or illness
(List from Exercise for Beginners)

It may not be necessary for everyone to check with their doctor before starting a new exercise program, but it doesn't hurt. Use your own judgement as to whether you see your doctor or not. It may be more important if you haven't done much exercise in a while.

Another thing to think about when going into an exercise program is to make sure you have appropriate clothing and footwear. Wearing the wrong footwear can be bad and cause damage to your body. Getting shoes that are designed for running for example, are a great idea. Light clothing is good, like a t-shirt and shorts, to make sure you don't get uncomfortable or overheat.

Make sure you consider some of these things before beginning any exercise program, because the last thing you want is to get an injury while trying to get fit.

"Visual Impact" - A Workout for the Lean Hollywood Look!

Gaining 20 pounds of muscle is NOT impressive if 15 pounds of that is on your butt, thighs, and waist.

Why Simply Gaining XX Pounds of Muscle
"Wherever it Winds Up"
is Not the Route to An Attractive Body!

You see, even if you are a little on the slim side you can still look “cool” and hip. You can wear designer clothes. You can look “GQ”, etc.
…but if you put on too much muscle on the wrong places you get that “cheesy” meat-head aura...and that is not a place where you want to be.

There are two types of muscle growth that affect the look of a muscle.

1 Sarcoplasmic Hypertrophy: This is growth caused by the increase in fluid (sarcoplasm) within a muscle cell. This is a fast way to increase the size of a muscle, but since sarcoplasm is a fluid and can't contract...it won't make the muscle significantly stronger.

2 Myofibrillar Hypertrophy: This is actual muscle fiber growth. This adds a lot less to the size of a muscle than sarcoplasmic growth, but since muscle fiber can contract...it will make the muscles significantly stronger.

Have you ever seen a muscular guy with large, but almost "puffy" looking muscles? This is a common problem I see in almost every gym I visit. Now...many trainers will tell you that muscle definition is simply a matter of gaining muscle and then losing body fat to reveal that muscle. They have the right idea, but this is just part of the puzzle.

So How do the Guys in Hollywood
(Taylor Lautner, Cam Gigandet, Brad Pitt, etc) Get that Ultra-Lean Look...Where it Appears as if Their Skin is Shrink Wrapped Around Their Muscles?
